Although a litigator, Mr. Held is a firm believer in alternative dispute resolution. Litigation may be necessary, but mediation often better serves the needs of the client, he says. Mr. Held also believes that an ability to assess a client's best interests is as important as the ability to successfully and deftly litigate. As a former social worker and public defender, Mr. Held has acquired unique abilities and insights into human nature and what makes people tick. Mr. Held has been certified as a mediator in Domestic Relations Mediation.
Since leaving the Corrections Legal Services Program and Legal Aid, Mr. Held has continued to be active in the community, including a long tenure as president of the Sherman Park Redevelopment Corporation. Most recently, he has been on the board of directors of Wisconsin Community Services, Inc.
When not at the office, Mr. Held pursues myriad interests including art, music, theater, politics, and sports (particularly softball and bowling).
